Hinges

An exploration of Aluminium as a material to create dual-layered hinged tessellated planes. Rotational movements initiate the contraction and expansion of the layers. Each pair of matching plates from each layer rotates around the same axis which allows both layers to expand and contract simultaneously in both opposite or same direction. Brass rivets are used to add a visual detail highlighting the most important part of this piece, the hinges.
